The Minnesota Wild announced they have traded a 2024 seventh-round pick to the Tampa Bay Lightning for Pat Maroon and Max Cajkovic.
Maroon has won three Stanley Cups in his career, one with the St. Louis Blues in 2019 and back-to-back with the Lightning in 2020 and 2021.
The big power forward has played 729 career games where he has notched 117 goals and 288 points along with 930 penalty minutes.
After losing Ryan Reaves to free agency yesterday, the Wild have now immediately replaced him with Maroon, a similar player.
The Lightning will retain 20 percent of Maroon's contract which means the Wild will be paying Maroon 800k for this season.
Maroon, the 6-foot-3 forward from St. Louis, MO, recorded five goals, 14 points and 150 penalty minutes last season for the Lightning in 80 games.
Cajkovic, 22, is a former third-round pick back in the 2019 draft and has spent the last two seasons in the AHL and ECHL. He will likely do the same in the Wild's system.
