The Wild have announced before their game against the Philadelphia Flyers, which is on Thursday, that Freddy Gaudreau is out with an upper-body injury and did not travel with the team.
Gaudreau, 30, signed a five-year extension in April of 2023 which carries an average annual cap hit of $2.1 million. But after a slow start to the season, Gaudreau is set to miss the game against the Flyers.
On the year, Gaudreau has no points in six games and has a total of four shots in his last four games with all four of those shots coming against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
In addition to Gaudreau missing the game against Philadelphia, the Wild have recalled forward Jujhar Khaira and placed Jared Spurgeon on LTIR.
This leaves a spot on the third line with Marco Rossi and Marcus Foligno which I would guess would be taken by either Vinni Lettieri or Khaira.
The Wild play the Flyers on Thursday and the Washington Capitals on Friday, both on the road. Gaudreau did not travel with the team so he is likely to miss all three games on the road trip.
