The Wild have now lost Matt Boldy and Alex Goligoski in the span of two days and will play tonight with only 11 forwards and six defensemen.
Originally, the Wild were going to go with 11/7 leaving the spot on Boldy's line absent. But now Goligoski won't be ready to play tonight which leaves the Wild with another man short.
Goligoski, 38, has played two games this year and is a -3 after being on the ice for three of the Maple Leafs' seven goals they scored on Saturday.
With the current cap situation, the Wild can't afford to call up anyone right now so they will enter tonight's game with one player short. But on Thursday they can call up a forward before their game against the Los Angeles Kings.
That being said, the forward they callup has to make under $875,000 so Adam Beckman won't be eligible. That leaves, Sammy Walker Vinni Lettieri, Nic Petan, Jujhar Khaira, Jake Lucchini, Nick Swaney, and Steven Fogarty as options to be called up.
Given that the Wild are without a skilled forward in Boldy, Walker or Lettieri seem like the right guy to call up and fill that spot. But they could call up Khaira to play on the fourth line, move Duhaime to the third line, and bump Gaudreau to the second line.
Regardless, the Wild will play tonight's game against the Montreal Canadiens, down a man.
