Wild have announced today that they have placed forward Freddy Gaudreau on LTIR and recalled goaltender Jesper Wallstedt from Iowa.
The Wild announced today that they have called up goaltender Jesper Wallstedt from the AHL ahead of their trip to Sweden for the NHL Global Series.
In order for Wallstedt to be recalled, the Wild needed to clear some cap to carry Wallstedt's $920,000. They did so by placing forward Freddy Gaudreau on LTIR.
Wallstedt, 20, was recently named the AHL's first star of the week after going 2-0-0 with a .950 save percentage in two games for the Iowa Wild.
The Wild's top prospect has been off to a very good start in the AHL where he has posted a 6-2-0 record with a 2.01 goals-against average and a .932 save percentage in eight games this year.
Although the move doesn't mean Wallstedt will play in either of the two games in Sweden, it will provide the team with an extra goalie in case either Marc-Andre Fleury or Filip Gustavsson aren't available.
