Wild prospect Liam Ohgren set to be team Sweden's captain at the 2024 World Junior Championship.
It's almost Christmas which means the IIHF 2024 World Juniors Championship tournament is just around the corner and one of the Wild's top prospects will be team Sweden's captain.
Liam Ohgren will be the captain for team Sweden for the upcoming tournament. He was an assistant captain for Sweden last year and was the captain of the U18 team in 2022 that won the gold medal.
Ohgren, 19, has been playing through an injury this year in the SHL but is back to 100 percent. He has two goals in five games played for Farjestad BK.
Last year in seven games during the 2023 World Junior Championship, Ohgren scored two goals. The 2022 19th overall pick by the Wild is set to come to the U.S. after this season to sign his entry level contract with the Wild.
Nonetheless, this is a big honor of Ohgren to be Sweden's captain and good news for the Wild as one of their top prospects will captain the potential gold medal winning Sweden team while the tournament is being played in Sweden.
