The Wild's roster is down to 25 now after a couple of moves yesterday. Sammy Walker and Jesper Wallstedt were sent to the AHL for the Iowa Wild's training camp.
Dakota Mermis, Vinni Lettieri, Nic Petan and Jujhar Khairia were placed on waivers yesterday by the Wild but have all cleared waivers today and have been sent to Iowa.
Wild head coach Dean Evason said today that those four guys plus Walker, were all here with the big club for a reason and that it won't be the last time they play with the big club.
"The ones that happened yesterday the message was 'you were here for a reason, you went on our retreat for a reason, you were here this long for a reason and you are a call up guy," Evason said. "Be that first guy when we call Mike Murray and Brett McLean - you want your name to come over their mouth over that phone. That's what we stressed to every one of them."
The message was clear from day one that the Wild wouldn't keep a 13th forward but that shouldn't stop the potential 13th forwards to work their butt off and push for a spot and it didn't.
"The message is to go down and play hockey, Evason said. "If and when we need you, make sure that's the name that we hear."
