It looked as if this would keep Spurgeon out for a long-time and possibly season ending. The good news is, Spurgeon's injury isn't as bad as the Wild assumed it to be. "It's not as bad as we originally thought," President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Bill Guerin told the traveling media in Washington. "It's still bad enough, because he's not in our lineup." Spurgeon, 35, was given an MRI on his right leg on Thursday. The Wild are calling him week-to-week as surgery was not required for their captain. So it seems as if Spurgeon and the Wild have dodged a huge bullet. They want to be careful with him based on what happened to Jakub Lauko. Lauko came back into the lineup after missing six games to a lower-body injury. He played three games before he aggravated the same injury. He has been out for the last nine games now.
