Wild forward Ryan Hartman will appeal 10-game suspension.

ST. PAUL - Wild forward Ryan Hartman was suspended by the NHL Department Of Player Safety on Monday for his play on Ottawa Senators forward Tim Stutzle.

Hartman, 30, missed the Wild's game on Tuesday then declared on Wednesday that he would appeal to the league his 10-game suspension.

There is no set timetable on how long the appeal will take but Hartman is hoping for the suspension to be less than 10 games.

In the meantime, it will be a month before Hartman plays again due to the upcoming 4 Nations Tournament. So, the Wild have an intense practice plan in place for Hartman so he is ready and in shape come the time his suspension is lifted.

"I would say from Ryan's standpoint we have a plan together, too, that's going to be pretty intensive for him when he gets back from break," Wild head coach John Hynes said. "You know, skating wise, intensity wise, fitness wise, to make sure that he's ready. He has to put in the time and the effort. We have a schedule, but I'd like to see some real strong dedication from him to make sure that when he does come back, he's fit and ready to play. And then, from a team perspective, in that time frame, we got to go about our business and we got to win with the guys that are in."
