The third game against the Toronto Maple Leafs in just four days began well for the Canadiens. Mattias Norlinder opened the scoring just over three minutes into the contest with a point shot that beat Leafs goaltender Ilya Samsonov, aided by a well-positioned screen by Kirby Dach. It was a rare power-play goal for the Habs.
Noah Gregor tied the game less than four minutes later with a shot that Jake Allen would like to see again. John Tavares added a power-play goal midway through the first period with Nick Suzuki in the box.
Max Domi scored from William Nylander at the 14:45 mark of the second period. And as the saying goes, "It was 3-1."
Kirby Dach scored a short-handed goal with just 12 seconds left in the second period after a great setup by Sean Monahan. And the Canadiens had momentum.
The third period was evenly played. Two minutes after Tavares' second goal of the night, Johnny Kovacevic found the back of the net with a shot from the point. Josh Anderson tied the contest after a great feed from Dach with just 41 minutes left and the game was tied.
Nick Suzuki buried a rebound after a hot shot off the stick of Cole Caufield hit the post. Just 31 seconds into overtime, the Canadiens had secured a victory.

Nick Suzuki
"It's always nice to score in this arena. It doesn't give us any points in the standings, but it's good to break the ice."
