This was a match between two teams near the bottom of the standings both in the midst of lengthy losing streaks. It wasn't hard to see why they haven't been successful when the puck was dropped. Game 59 on the schedule was simply a bad match between two struggling teams.
That said, there were a few bright spots. The Canadiens received offense from two of their foot soldiers, Joel Armia and Tanner Pearson. Armia led the Habs with four shots on goal.
Pearson's goal was set up by a shot block and a brilliant pass by Jordan Harris. The 23-year-old defenseman also scored his second goal of the season with a laser that beat Coyotes goaltender Connor Ingram.
It was another tough night for Juraj Slafkovsky. The 19-year-old took two high-sticking penalties in just under 18 minutes of ice time. Slafkovsky has no points in his past four games, recorded 10 penalty minutes and has a minus-3 rating.
Mike Matheson was a minus-2 against Arizona and was tagged for four giveaways.
The Canadiens ended their five-game losing streak and pushed the Coyotes mark to 13 games without a win. Montreal is now three points ahead of Arizona in the standings.

Jordan Harris - Harris was solid in over 17 minutes of ice time.
Martin St. Louis
"We didn't play a good game. You take the victory because it brings smiles and energy to the team, but we know we didn't play a good game. When you look at our last five to six games, it's the worst, but we won. It's a strange league sometimes. You have to be careful how you manage everything so as not to get lost in the process."
Jordan Harris
"It wasn't perfect by any means but definitely a good start and it felt good to contribute offensively and show what I can do offensively. It was nice to snap that losing streak."
The Canadiens travel to Florida to take on the Panthers on Thursday night and the Lightning on Saturday night to start a four game road trip.
