It was the first career game for Kaiden Guhle against the Boston Bruins. And by scoring his first goal of the season, Guhle ended the Canadiens 10-game losing streak to Boston. It was the Canadiens' first win over the Bruins since November 5, 2019, a truly special day.
For four years, perhaps the missing ingredient was Guhle. It was a two-point night for the 21-year-old defenseman who also had four blocked shots.
The records of the two teams were set aside as the depth of the rivalry fueled a furious pace in the opening period. The rejuvenated Brendan Gallagher fired a shot off the post but would secure a goal in the third frame knocking a rebound past Jeremy Swayman from a Guhle point shot.
Nick Suzuki scored a power play early in the third period on a long distance wrist shot aided by a screen from Sean Monahan.
Jordan Harris left the game in the second period and was unable to return. The Canadiens announced that Harris was being evaluated for an upper body injury.
From the anthems performed by Warrant Officer David Grenon of the Royal Canadian Air Force to the feverish action on the ice, this was the best game of this young season at the Bell Centre.

Kaiden Guhle on the winning goal
“It's an unbelievable feeling. It's pretty cool to score an overtime winner in the NHL, never mind at the Bell Centre."
Brendan Gallagher
"I thought that we brought our 'A' game tonight. When we play that brand of hockey, that style of hockey, we're really confident that we're going to be able to get results against any team in this league."
