Following Wednesday's result, the Montreal Canadiens prospect will play in the CHL's Memorial Cup Semifinals with the Saginaw Spirit.
The Canadian Hockey League's (CHL) Memorial Cup continued on Wednesday with a battle of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) as the London Knights faced the hosts Saginaw Spirit. The stakes were high for the contest as the winner punched their spot for Sunday's final.
Heading into the matchup, Montreal Canadiens prospect Owen Beck obtained two points in Saginaw's victory against the Western Hockey League's (WHL) Moose Jaw Warriors and was pointless in the Spirit's win over the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League's (QMJHL) Drummondville Voltigeurs.
The hosts opened the scoring midway through the first on a sequence that began with Beck's forecheck behind the net. The forward's pressure that didn't earn him an assist, led to a goal by Alex Christopoulos.
The Knights answered back with a goal later in the period and took the lead at the midpoint of the second period when the Spirit tied it before the intermission.
In the final 1:25 of regulation, London's Easton Cowan broke the tie and sealed the 4-2 victory with an empty net goal.
Beck finished the evening with three shots on goal and won 15 of his 20 draws taken.
The Saginaw Spirit will face the Moose Jaw Warriors in the semifinal on Friday at 7:30 pm. Eastern time. The winner squares off against the London Knights on Sunday at 7:30 pm. EDT. Both games will be available on TSN in Canada.
