    The Montreal Canadiens prospect helped the Saginaw Spirit advance to Memorial Cup final.

    The Canadian Hockey League's (CHL) Memorial Cup resumed on Friday with the semifinal matchup between Western Hockey League's (WHL) Moose Jaw Warriors and the hosts Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). The winner of the contest earning a spot in the finals. 

    The Warriors were looking to avenge the 5-4 loss against the Spirit in the opening game of the competition, where Canadiens prospect Owen Beck obtained two points. The forward was held off the scoresheet in the following two contests. 

    The Quebec Maritime Junior Hockey League's (QMJHL) Drummondville Voltigeurs did not qualify after going winless in three round robin games. 

    The hosts had a 2-1 lead early in the second period when Josh Bloom dished the puck to Beck and the Peterborough, Ontario native buried it with a wrist shot from the faceoff dot. 

    Saginaw added four additional goals in the second period and one more in the third and headed to a commanding 7-1 victory against Moose Jaw. 

    Beck finished the evening with one shot on goal, plus-1 rating, and had a good night at the draws winning 14 of the 17 he took. 

    The Spirit will face their OHL counterparts London Knights in the Memorial Cup final. The Knights defeated the Spirit 4-2 during the round robin phase. The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. EDT.
