
The 2024 IIHF World Championships continued on Friday with two members of the Montreal Canadiens representing their countries.
Cole Caufield was named the United States best player of the match in the 4-1 victory against Poland at Ostrava Arena. The forward scored twice on eight shots on goal and a plus-3 rating in 13:56 of ice time.
The sniper recorded his first goal of the tournament early in the third period on a sequence that began with Caufield stealing the puck from a defender in the offensive zone and moments later received a perfect pass from Brady Tkachuk for the goal.
Later in the period, the Caufield - Tkachuk duo struck again as the Canadiens forward bounced on a rebound from his teammate's shot to beat John Murray. Since the beginning of the tournament, Caufield has collected four points in five games.
In the other contest, Czechia blanked Austria 4-0 at Prague Arena. Canadiens prospect Vinzenz Rohrer finished the matchup with one shot goal in 11:32 of play. The forward drafted 75th overall in 2022 has amassed two assists in five games since the start of the start of the competition.
On Saturday, two Canadiens from the organization square off at 10:20am eastern inside Prague Arena as Kaiden Guhle and Oliver Kapanen will be in uniform for their respective countries. The game between Canada and Finland will be available on TSN 1 and 3 in Canada.
At 2:20 pm. Eastern time, Juraj Slafkovsky will hit the ice as Slovakia faces France at Ostrava Arena. TSN 3 will broadcast the game in Canada.
