NHL fantasy hockey is around the corner. We look at one rankings list to see which Montreal Canadiens made the cut.

Besides watching NHL hockey from October to June, many fans love participating in fantasy hockey. Whether it's a hobby, a side hustle, or something done simply for fun, there is never enough information to consume.
As hockey managers prepare for drafts, many may wonder where several Montreal Canadiens star players rank.
Hundreds of rankings exist, including The Hockey News, which just released their yearly Year Book and Fantasy Guide.
However, we want to see how EP Rinkside ranks the big names in the Canadiens lineup and whether or not their position is justified. Those who have Premium access to their website can download the NHL Fantasy Guide 2024-25 for free.
Because this list is for paying customers only, there's no need to give away content, so no actual rankings will be mentioned in this story; it will just be a range of where a player has been listed.

For example, no one in the Canadiens lineup cracked the top 50, with captain Nick Suzuki (77 points) the first player ranked. He and Cole Caufield (65 points) are the only names in the top 100.
Realistically, both have the potential to be 30-goal scorers and, with the right linemates, could be point-per-game players, giving the Canadiens something they haven't had in ages: 80-point skaters.
Newcomer Patrik Laine (nine points) managed to sneak into the top 125, but Juraj Slafkovsky (50 points) and Mike Matheson (62 points) joined him in the top 150.
Laine, a former 40-goal scorer who missed most of last season, could quickly return to 30 this year. He's got a chance to revamp his reputation while making the Canadiens look like geniuses for bringing him abroad.
Former first-overall pick Slafkovsky continues to grow and has the opportunity to surpass the 20-goal mark, a personal milestone he achieved in his second season in 2023-24. Meanwhile, Matheson finished ninth in scoring among defensemen, making him an intriguing option for top defenders in fantasy hockey.
Goalie Sam Montembeault brings the total of Montreal players in the top 200 to six. Kirby Dach and Alex Newhook are the final two skaters to crack the top 303.
Montembeault will get the bulk of Montreal's starts, making him an exciting option to draft because he's poised to break his career-high of 16 wins. Meanwhile, Dach has recovered from a knee injury that limited him to just two games last year. A fresh start on a healthy knee will give him a chance to reach the 20-goal mark for the first time in his career.
Finally, Newhook scores goals in the double digits but usually tops out at about 30 points. As a top-six forward, there's hope he can do more and score more, helping the Canadiens get back into the playoff picture.
There you have it. EP Rinkside ranked eight 2024-25 Canadiens members in their fantasy hockey rankings. Did anyone get snubbed? Are skaters ranked in the proper places? Let us know in the comments.
