Can Kirby Dach have himself a strong season?
The Montreal Canadiens' regular-season is rapidly approaching, as their opening night game against the Toronto Maple Leafs in on Sep. 29.
With the regular-season almost here, one player who fans should be watching incredibly closely is Canadiens forward Kirby Dach. This is an incredibly important season for the 25-year-old.
After signing a one-year, $3.6 million contract with the Canadiens this off-season to avoid arbitration, it is clear that Dach is facing a make-or-break season with the Original Six club. If he hopes to stay in Montreal beyond this campaign, there is no question that he needs to have himself a strong season in 2026-27.
Dach played in just 37 regular-season games last season for Montreal, where he posted eight goals and 15 points. He also played in 19 playoff games for the Canadiens this past spring, posting four goals and an assist. Overall, it was a tough year for the 2019 third-overall pick, and he will be looking for better results in 2026-27 because of it.
If Dach can regain his 2022-23 form, when he posted career highs with 14 goals, 24 assists, and 38 points in 58 games, it would help the Canadiens a lot this season. It will be interesting to see what happens on that front from here.
