Could Bolduc have himself a breakout year for the Canadiens?
Earlier this month, the Montreal Canadiens re-signed forward Zachary Bolduc to a four-year, $16.8 million contract. While it took a while for them to come to terms, Bolduc is now set to stay in Montreal long-term.
After landing this nice contract, it would not be too surprising if Bolduc puts together a true breakout year for Montreal in 2026-27.
Bolduc has shown promise early on during his NHL career. During his first season with Montreal in 2025-26, he posted 12 goals, 30 points, and 170 hits. This was after he had 19 goals, 36 points, and 108 hits in 72 games for the St. Louis Blues during the 2024-25.
With numbers like these, Bolduc has already demonstrated that he provide decent offensive production in addition to plenty of grit. Yet, when noting that he is only 23 years old and entering just his fourth NHL season, the possibility of him hitting a new level with the Canadiens this season should not be ruled out.
If Bolduc can take that next step offensively while maintaining his gritty style of play, it would be huge for a Canadiens club that is looking to be contenders this season. It will be interesting to see what kind of season he has in 2026-27 after landing his nice payday from here.
