Another advert featuring a Montreal Canadiens player has hit our screens; this time, it features Nick Suzuki.

A new season usually brings a new batch of adverts featuring Montreal Canadiens players in Quebec, and this season is no exception. After Ivan Demidov, Alex Carrier, and Lane Hutson made the headlines with their advert for Billets.ca, it’s now Nick Suzuki’s turn to steal the spotlight.

Once again, Suzuki stars in a Tim Hortons advert, and while it’s not as funny as the one where he accidentally told the cashier he was being traded, it still has a nice touch. The premise is simple: it’s set at the end of the game, and before speaking the traditional post-game interview at center ice with Marc Denis as the game’s first star, Suzuki throws souvenirs in the crowd, but this time, it’s not a signed puck; it’s Tim’s new breakfast sandwich.

The player then speaks to Denis, and when asked what he eats for breakfast, he replies, “Steak, oeuf, patate,” then signs the camera lens, as the game's first star always does. Where’s the joke? Well, in Quebec, the cult TV show La petite vie had a character who couldn't cook shepherd's pie and kept repeating the recipe to herself before and after each unsuccessful attempt: “Steak, blé d’Inde, patate!”. For years, people in Quebec heard that on TV every Monday night, so the ad brings those memories back. Who doesn’t like a bit of nostalgia? Kudos to Tim Hortons on a job well done!
