Could this be the year that Texier ends up taking his game to a new level?
With training camp now here for the Montreal Canadiens, the regular-season is rapidly approaching.
When looking at the Canadiens' roster, one player who fans should be keeping an eye on extra closely this season is forward Alexandre Texier.
After mutually terminating his contract with the St. Louis Blues last season, Texier signed with the Canadiens. This is a move that benefited both Texier and Montreal, as they ended up being a great fit with each other last season.
Texier posted eight goals, 12 assists, 20 points, and a plus-9 rating in 43 regular-season games with the Canadiens last season. He also posted four goals and eight points in 19 playoff games for Montreal this past spring.
With the way Texier played last season for Montreal, the possibility of him having a career year should not be ruled out. At 27 years old, he is entering his prime, and it would not be particularly surprising if we saw his offense increase a bit in 2026-27 because of it.
If Texier can take that next step offensively, it would be great news for a Canadiens club that is looking to be even better in 2026-27. It will be interesting to see what kind of season the 2017 second-round pick has, but a career year could very well be on the way.
