One of the many staples of Summer in Montreal is the numerous music festivals that grace the downtown park sections of the city. Few compare to the country music celebration that is Lasso Montreal.
The event has been ongoing since Aug 15 and some Canadiens and Laval Rocket players were in attendance yesterday. The Rocket social media team posted a picture of Logan Mailloux, Joshua Roy, Jakub Dobes and Riley Kidney posing at the venue.
The quartet are not the first players in the Tricolore organization to attend Lasso in recent years, as it’s become a frequent occurrence to see the Habs skaters countrified for the music fest. Last year, defenseman Kaiden Guhle got decked out in his best country outfit while appearing at the festival while Juraj Slafkovsky, Nick Suzuki, Arber Xhekaj and Josh Anderson moseyed on down to Parc Jean-Drapeau as well.
Lasso will wrap up today, but not without a bit of fun from the Canadiens. Where there is fun and bleu-blanc-rouge, there is Youppi! The iconic Montreal mascot gifted Nate Smith a custom Habs jersey with the number 85 and his name etched on the back plate. The country singer performed as part of yesterday’s setlist.
Country music is a definite in many dressing room playlists, as you can hear it now and then when you pass by the locker rooms of your local rink. The Canadiens clearly understand this, combining hockey and Western twang once again.
