Tough news for the Habs.
The Montreal Canadiens will officially be starting the 2026-27 season without defenseman Kaiden Guhle.
The Canadiens announced that Guhle will be sidelined for the next four to five weeks after undergoing minor adductor muscle surgery during the summer.
With Montreal's first game of the regular-season being on Sep. 29 against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Guhle will officially be out for the start of the campaign. This is certainly unfortunate news for the left-shot defenseman.
If Guhle ends up being ready in four weeks, he would return to the Canadiens' lineup a week or so into October. However, if he ends up needing five weeks, he would not return until around mid-October.
Guhle being sidelined for the start of the season comes after he was limited to only 39 games during the 2025-26 season for Montreal. During them, he posted two goals, 11 points, 63 blocks, 86 hits, and a plus-5 rating.
This is a very important season for Guhle, so the Canadiens will be hoping that he suffers no setbacks as he continues to recovery from his surgery.
In 208 games over four seasons with Montreal, he has posted 18 goals, 69 points, 390 hits, and 442 blocks.
