The Montreal Canadiens have announced that they have signed 23-year-old defenseman Arber Xhekaj to a two-year contract worth $1.3 million annually.
Xhekaj has spent the past two seasons playing with both Montreal and their AHL affiliate Laval Rocket. He has appeared in 95 games as a Hab and amassed 23 points during that span.
Xhekaj became a fan favorite by dealing out hard hits and decisively winning fights on the ice. He was one of the two restricted free agent that needed to be resigned along with Justin Barron. Kent Hughes could also decided to sign Kaiden Guhle to an extension as he is eligible to sign even though there's a year left on his contract.
