These two will be staying put with the Canadiens organization.
The Montreal Canadiens have announced that they have signed forward Alex Belzile and goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen to one-year contracts.
Seeing the Canadiens bring back Belzile and Kahkonen is understandable. They were both key parts of the Laval Rocket's roster last season and will continue to be in 2026-27 after each landing new one-year contracts.
Belzile appeared in 66 games during this past season with Laval, where he posted 29 goals, 33 assists, 62 points, 76 penalty minutes, and a plus-15 rating.
As for Kahkonen, he had a 21-9-7 record, an .895 save percentage, and a 2.73 goals-against average in 38 games with the Rocket during the 2025-26 season. He will now continue to be one of the Rocket's goaltenders after signing this new deal.
