Like every Montreal Canadiens player, Cole Caufield met the media on Friday to discuss his season and the way forward. Asked if he would join Team USA at the World Championships, the sniper replied he didn’t know. One can understand his hesitation; after all, he took part in the last edition, which didn’t land him a spot on the team for the 4 Nations Face-Off. Asked if participating would help him get on the Olympics team, he replied:

While he called this season a building block, he’s not satisfied with the result, but he’s proud of where the team has gotten to. Making the playoffs is one step forward, but not the ultimate goal. Speaking about Captain Nick Suzuki, he said:
I think everybody looks at him and sees his progress and his success. Obviously, a lot of work comes with that, but we all look at him and see the work that he’s doing and how success comes later. On teammate Kirby Dach, he says that when healthy, he can contribute offensively and help push the group forward. The forward explained that next year, things are just going to get harder as every team will have improved. Still, he said the future is very bright in Montreal, calling Lane Hutson, Juraj Slafkovsky, and Ivan Demidov three very special talents.
