Montreal Canadiens prospect Ivan Demidov gave an interesting interview in Russian after SKA's training session yesterday.

The Montreal Canadiens' most exciting offensive prospect Ivan Demidov gave an interview after SKA St. Petersburg training session yesterday in Russia and revealed some interesting information.

While the Canadiens and SKA have been in communication about his development since the Montreal franchise drafted the young Russian, it was never mentioned that he was seen as the KHL outfit's 13th forward but that's what he says he's labelled as right now.

There have been some additions to SKA's lineup since the end of the playoffs in the Russian league, forwards Mikhail Grigorenko (a former Buffalo Sabres first round pick, 12th overall) and Sergei Plotnikov (who played one year with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Arizona Coyotes) both joined from CSKA Moscow. Evgeny Kuznetsov also signed a contract with SKA and is expected to play big minutes.

Demidov still wants to play out the year in Russia and finish his contract with SKA, but it could mean he plays in the VHL rather than the KHL. It will be interesting to see how Montreal reacts to that information. As of yet, there are no indications that it may change the development plan for the young forward, but considering how important he is for the organization's rebuild, things could evolve quickly.
