Lane Hutson is just starting his rookie season, but so far, he's stealing the show.

While it's always good to err on the side of caution with rookies and try not to get too excited too quickly, Montreal Canadiens blueliner Lane Hutson is making it really hard to do that. After last night's 4-1 win over the Ottawa Senators, bench boss Martin St-Louis had to answer a plethora of questions about the youngster, and deservedly so.

One aspect of his game that has particularly caught the coach's attention is his deceptiveness. The ease with which he can fake out opponents is incredible—just ask Brady Tkachuk, who was losing patience last night while trying to stop Hutson from coming out from the back of the net.

The rearguard can even fake out camera operators tonight. That's just how well he sells his moves:

Currently, Hutson has six points in five games in the NHL and four in as many matches this season. He's currently first in points for the Canadiens, tied with Cole Caufield. Don't look now, but he also leads all rookies in the league with that production, a point ahead of Dallas Stars' center Logan Stankoven, who has a game in hand. For those keeping track, Macklin Cellebrini has only played one game in which he gathered two points, and Philadelphia Flyers' Russian sensation Matvei Michkov has got one point in two games.

Stay calm, Habs fans, but Hutson is making it hard not to be overly excited...
