This Canadiens prospect is playing well in the AHL.

Montreal Canadiens prospect defenseman Luke Mittelstadt is having a fantastic start to the season in the AHL with the Laval Rocket.

In four games so far this campaign with Laval, Mittelstadt has posted two goals, five assists, seven points, and a plus-3 rating. This included him recording one goal and three points in his most recent appearance for Laval on Oct. 11 against the Hartford Wolf Pack.

Seeing Mittelstadt start this season off in such a strong way is encouraging. The 23-year-old defenseman is showing that he can produce offense from the point at the AHL level. Now, he will be aiming to continue to play like this for the Rocket as the season carries on. If he does, he should get more attention from Canadiens fans.

Mittelstadt also showed promise last season when he joined Laval at the end of the campaign. In nine games with the AHL club last season, he recorded one goal and five points. This was after he posted two goals and 21 points in 36 games for the University of Minnesota as a senior in 2025-26.

It will now be intriguing to see if Mittelstadt can continue to make a big impact for the Rocket. Right now, it is hard not to be happy with what he is providing at the AHL level.
