Filip Mesar will be looking to take a step forward next season.

Montreal Canadiens prospect Filip Mesar just completed his second AHL season with the Laval Rocket in 2025-26. Overall, it was a pretty quiet campaign from the 2022 first-round pick, as he posted nine goals, 18 assists, and 27 points in 71 games. This was after the 22-year-old forward recorded four goals and 18 points in 42 games.

Overall, with numbers like these, Mesar has been having trouble breaking through at the AHL level. With the 5-foot-10 forward being a former first-round pick, he will undoubtedly be looking to change that in 2026-27.

There is no question that next season is a crucial campaign for Mesar. The young forward will be looking to hit a new level in 2026-27, and all eyes should be on him because of it.

With Mesar entering his third season, it is clear that the Canadiens will be hoping that he can see his offensive production go up in Laval. If it does not, it will only create more questions about his future with the organization.

It will be interesting to see if Mesar can prove his doubters wrong and take a big step forward next season from here.
