Will this be the year that David Reinbacher breaks out?
The 2026-27 season is almost here for the Montreal Canadiens.
The Habs will have plenty of players to watch closely during this upcoming season. This includes former first-round pick David Reinbacher, as he is entering a very important campaign.
Reinbacher will be looking to prove to the Canadiens this season that he is ready to play in the NHL regularly. The 21-year-old defenseman appeared in his first two NHL games last season for Montreal, where he recorded an assist. Now, he will be aiming to impress this campaign in hopes of earning more chnaces on Montreal's blueline.
Injury trouble has taken away a lot of time from Reinbacher since his draft year, but he got into more action for the Laval Rocket in 2024-25. In 57 games last season for Laval, he posted five goals, 19 assists, 24 points, and a plus-18 rating. Overall, the 6-foot-3 defenseman showed promise and will be looking to take another step forward in 2026-27 from here.
It is going to be very interesting to see what kind of season Reinbacher can have this season. It is a big year for a youngster, as he will need to show the Canadiens that he is ready for more NHL time.
