Keep an eye on Alex Newhook next season.

Montreal Canadiens forward Alex Newhook undoubtedly had a strong season in 2025-26. While he was limited to only 42 regular-season games, he posted 13 goals and 25 points. This was after he had 15 goals and 26 points but in 82 games during the 2024-25 season.

Newhook also had a solid post-season, recording seven goals and 10 points in 19 games. This included him scoring six goals during the Canadiens' second round series against the Buffalo Sabres alone.

With that, it is clear that Newhook had a successful campaign in 2025-26. Yet, it would not be surprising if he hits a new level with Montreal next season.

The possibility of Newhook building off his strong 2025-26 season should not be ruled out. He showed some serious promise throughout last season, and it would be huge for the Canadiens if he could take his game to a new level offensively in 2026-27.

Keep in mind, Newhook is just 25 years old. With that, he is still young enough that he may not have hit his ceiling yet. He has shown that he can make a serious impact when he is hot, and it will be interesting to see what kinds of numbers he can put together in 2026-27 from here.
