Don't be surprised if the Canadiens forward hits a new level in 2026-27.
Montreal Canadiens forward Alex Newhook had a successful 2025-26 season. Despite being limited to just 42 regular-season games, he posted 13 goals, 12 assists, and 25 points. This was after he had 15 goals and 26 points during the 2024-25 season but played in 82 games. With that, Newhook took a nice step forward last season for Montreal.
Newhook followed up his regular-season with a strong post-season, as he recorded seven goals and 10 points in 19 games. He was also a major reason why the Canadiens beat the Buffalo Sabres in the second round, as he scored six goals during that series alone.
Yet, as well as Newhook played this past season for the Canadiens, it is hard to bet against him hitting a new level for Montreal in 2026-27. He showed a lot of promise this past season, and at just 25 years old, he still has the potential to break out further.
With this, all eyes should be on Newhook during this upcoming campaign. It would be huge for Montreal if he can take that next step and prove that he can be a legitimate top-six forward. If he hits, say, the 25-goal and 60-point marks, it would be massive for Montreal. Let's see if he can do just that from here.
