What line could Kreider end up playing on after being signed by the Canadiens?
The Montreal Canadiens made a big move on Saturday, as they signed Chris Kreider to a one-year contract for the 2026-27 season.
The Canadiens' decision to sign Kreider is not hard to understand, as they needed another impactful winger on their roster. Kreider will now give them exactly that.
Now, with the Canadiens adding Kreider, their top nine certainly looks stronger on paper. But which line could Kreider end up playing on?
With Kreider being a versatile winger, the Canadiens have multiple options to consider with him when it comes to their lineup.
One clear spot where Kreider could fit is at their second line left wing spot. Kreider could thrive playing with a skilled young winger like Ivan Demidov, and it would allow Alex Newhook to potentially play down the middle.
Yet, Kreider could also be very effective playing on the Canadiens' third line. Montreal's bottom six could use more offensive production, so Kreider would have the potential to be a good fit there, too.
In either scenario, the Canadiens' offense should get a nice boost with this Kreider signing. Furthermore, with this being a one-year deal, it is a low-risk move for the Canadiens.
In 78 games last season for the Anaheim Ducks, Kreider posted 22 goals and 50 points.
