The Canadiens have another move to make.

The Montreal Canadiens stayed busy on Saturday, as they re-signed forward Zachary Bolduc to a four-year contract.

The Canadiens getting Bolduc signed came just one day after they brought in veteran Chris Kreider on a one-year contract.

Yet, while the Canadiens have made two notable moves this weekend, it is clear that they still have another one to make. This is because they still need to re-sign restricted free agent defenseman Arber Xhekaj before the start of the season.

After bringing in Kreider and re-signing Bolduc, the Canadiens still have over $4 million of cap space. Because of this, they should have the cap space to get Xhekaj signed to a new deal.

A short-term deal may be the best course of action for the Canadiens when it comes to Xhekaj. The 25-year-old defenseman is still aiming to cement himself as a mainstay on the Canadiens' blueline, so a short-term prove-it deal could make sense for both parties at this stage of the off-season.

With Xhekaj being a young and big defenseman who plays with an edge, it would be wise for the Canadiens to see what he can do for another season. The potential for him to hit another level could be there, and it will be interesting to see if Montreal will end up re-signing him before the start of the season from here.
