Today, RDS published a picture of Jacob Fowler’s brand new mask, which follows a popular trend among Montreal Canadiens goaltenders. In 2021, Carey Price introduced his new skull-brain mask. It was less travel for Habs goaltenders who used to stick to classics, but it looked amazing, and people marveled at airbrush artist Jordon Bourgeault’s design.

Earlier this season, Samuel Monteambeault introduced a similar mask from the same artist, and it was impressive work. It had plenty of designs relating to the franchise’s greatest goalies and shades of Ken Dryden and Patrick Roy's former masks.
Fowler’s mask stays in the robotic design field. Still, it’s another robot, the popular Marvel superhero Iron Man, a.k.a Tony Stark, portrayed on the big screen by Robert Downey Jr. Iron Man’s typical red and yellow look makes way for the Canadiens’ iconic red, white, and blue colors.
On the back plate, Fowler has kept a Florida licence plate with the “Sunshine State” mention, the state he was born in, but underneath it, it’s got lyrics to a song that brings goosebumps to Bell Centre regulars: Cold Play’s Fix You. The song became the team’s entry song in 2005 and was replaced for a short while in 2021 by Rage Against The Machine’s Bulls on Parade. By the 11th home game, the players requested it be brought back, and it never went away again.
It was a stroke of genius for Fowler to request that artist Sylvie Marsolais, a.k.a. Sylabrush Airbrush, include it on the back plate. It also features the classic Canadiens logo on the top, above the Iron Man eyes, and on one side of the chin, while the Laval Rocket logo is on the other side. The skyline of both cities are also featured.
The mask will debut soon in a Rocket match and will likely see the ice in the next preseason.
