Laval Rocket general manager John Sedgwick has added a major award to his resume.
The American Hockey League (AHL) has announced that Sedgwick is the first winner of the Bruce Landon Award for the 2024-25 season. This new award is given to the "AHL's most outstanding hockey operations executive."
When looking at Laval's 2024-25 season, it is understandable that Sedgwick has been named the AHL's GM of the year. They finished this campaign with the best record in the AHL, posting a 48-19-3-2 record and 101 points. The Rocket also made it to the Eastern Conference Final before falling to the Charlotte Checkers this post-season.
In addition to being Laval's general manager, Sedgwick is also currently the assistant general manager of the Montreal Canadiens. The Canadiens are certainly lucky to have him in their organization, and he is doing a good job of helping the club's prospects grow.
New Canadiens Forward Is Sneaky Good Addition
The Montreal Canadiens have made some significant moves this off-season. They most notably acquired star defenseman Noah Dobson from the New York Islanders to bolster their blueline. They also acquired a promising young forward on the rise in Zack Bolduc from the St. Louis Blues, who has the potential to be a key part of their offense.
