All work and no play make Jack a dull boy, whoever decided on yesterday's schedule must have seen the Stanley Kubric classic The Shining a few times or just heard the quote. Speaking to the media yesterday, coach Martin St-Louis admitted that even he didn't love physical testing days back when he played and although the players had to undergo testing, they got to play around for the cameras later in the day.
As always, the photo shoot made for some excellent social media content:
Juraj Slafkovsky is nothing if not expressive, he does have a way to pull some interesting faces, who doesn't remember his expression after scoring his first NHL goal?
Tomorrow, the real work will start with the camp's first on ice session which is scheduled for 10:00 AM at the CN Sports Complex in Brossard. The 59 players will be split in three teams rather than the four we had been accustomed to in previous years. This is yet another sign that the team is moving forward and progressing. The Habs brass has a better idea of what they have on their hands and they want to invest their time on the right players.
As always, the CN Sports Complex will be open to the public and fans will be able to watch proceedings, knowing how many hockey fanatics there are around town, it wouldn't be surprising if there weren't enough chairs to go around. There will be on-ice sessions for the next three days as well, until the first preseason game on Monday against the Phildelphia Flyers at the Bell Centre.
