Many celebrities attended the Omnium Banque Nationale in Montreal this month, including a few Montreal Canadiens players.
As Montreal Canadiens players return to town ahead of the new season, they are spending a lot of time at the CN Sports Complex in Brossard, but they are also enjoying the entertainment the city has to offer. In August, that means the Omnium Banque Nationale Tennis tournament.
On Thursday night, Ivan Demidov and his girlfriend, Jacob Fowler, and Jakub Dobes were all spotted watching the final, contested between Americans Ben Shelton and Brandon Nakashima. The former eventually came out on top, claiming the title in two sets 6-3 and 7-6. Demidov and Dobes were two Habs players who also enjoyed some World Cup action this summer when they headed to Miami to watch Cristiano Ronaldo play for Portugal. As for Cole Caufield, he was in attendance for the final.
Samuel Montembeault and Zachary Bolduc watched the quarter-final between Daniel Merida and Learner Tien on Tuesday, as did Alex Carrier and his significant other, Alicia Lessard. Bolduc and Carrier were interviewed on TVA Sports, and when asked about his new contract, Bolduc said things will be worked out in the coming weeks and that the pair should be teammates once again this season.
Despite the fact that many of the tournament’s favourites were eliminated early and that the weather didn’t cooperate much, the tennis tournament set a new attendance record with over 309,000 fans making their way to the Stade IGA.
