The KHL has announced its players of the week and there's a familiar face in there.

When the Montreal Canadiens drafted Ivan Demidov fifth overall at the last draft, I felt like I heard a whole fanbase unanimously cheer. For years the Habs have been starved for offense, the last player to put up 50 goals wearing the Sainte-Flanelle was Stéphane Richer back in 1989-90. Vincent Damphouse got to 40 in 1993-94 and newly "Leafed" Max Pacioretty got to 39 in 2013-14 but for the best part of the last 40 years, the Tricolore has been about stellar goaltending.

The fans are excited to see some offense and a number of them have been avidly following Demidov's every move in the KHL. He hasn't exactly taken the league by storm, and he was even demoted to the fourth line for one game.

He bounced back nicely however, getting promoted back to the third line and scoring his first KHL goal against Lada Togliatti before having his first four-point game when SKA St. Petersburg vanquished HK Sochi 7-4.

The stellar display earned him the title of rookie of the week in the KHL, in two games he registered four points and averaged nearly 14 minutes of time on ice. He's now played seven games so far this season and has six points to his name.

Demidov will be back in action this afternoon when SKA takes on Omsk Avangard at 12:30 PM ET.
