Ivan Demidov, the Montreal Canadiens' top-drafted prospect (fifth overall) from the 2024 Draft, was named Rookie of the Month in the KHL while skating with SKA St. Petersburg.

The 18-year-old collected eight points in the season's first ten games, with four goals and four assists. He is on pace for 57 points in 68 games and could approach 30 goals. Demidov had a four-point game on Sept 19 and has registered points in five games, averaging 12:33 in ice time.

Demidov currently ranks 42nd in league scoring and is tied with 17 other skaters with eight points. The most interesting part of his winning Rookie of the Month award is that he plays on the third line and has even seen time on the fourth line.

Fans have been discussing on social media what kind of production he'd have if he played in the top six or more than 15 minutes a night. This is Demidov's first real opportunity in the KHL, and he is under contract with SKA St. Petersberg until the end of the season, meaning he could come to North America in 2025.
