While the Laval Rocket will be able to use Rafael Harvey-Pinard for a bit longer, it will be without Montreal Canadiens prospect Luke Tuch for three to four weeks because of an upper-body injury.
Tuch, a second-round pick (47th overall) at the 2020 draft, spent four years in the NCAA with Boston University graduated last year and signed his two-year entry-level deal with the Canadiens last April. At the time, he also signed an AHL deal in order to finish the last season with the Rocket but only played two games since the Laval outfit failed to make the playoffs.
He is therefore playing his rookie season this year and has picked up four goals and two assists in 14 games, also adding 24 penalty minutes. At training camp with the Canadiens, he impressed with his physicality and pace.
Eventually, he could be part of a very physical fourth line with the Canadiens alongside Florian Xhekaj and, should he develop well, Tyler Thorpe who is still playing in the WHL with the Vancouver Giants. In 22 contest, the 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds heavyweight has picked up 18 points.
If the Canadiens managed to stay relatively healthy this season, it's been harder for the Rocket who is now without three important players because of injuries: Brandon Gignac, Filip Mesar, and Tuch himself. Add that to Joshua Roy being with the Canadiens and it does make for a sizeable hole in the farm team's roster.
