The Montreal Canadiens have made a notable move, as the Original Six club has announced that they have re-signed defenseman Jayden Struble to a two-year contract. Starting next season, Struble will have an average annual value (AAV) of $1.4125 million.

Struble was a restricted free agent (RFA) and had an arbitration meeting scheduled for Aug. 3. However, with the Canadiens and Struble agreeing on this two-year deal, they will now be avoiding arbitration.

Getting Struble re-signed was an important task for the Canadiens this off-season, as he is a solid, young defenseman who still has the potential to improve. In 56 games this past season with the Canadiens, he scored two goals and set new career highs with 11 assists, 13 points, and 124 hits. This was after he had three goals, 10 points, and 121 hits in 56 contests with the Canadiens as a rookie during the 2023-24 campaign.

In 112 games over two seasons with the Canadiens, Struble has recorded five goals, 18 assists, 23 points, 109 penalty minutes, 245 hits, and a minus-1 rating.
