The Canadiens have signed one of their prospects to an entry-level deal.

The Montreal Canadiens have announced that they have signed defenseman Luke Mittelstadt to a two-year, entry-level contract. His entry-level deal will start during the 2026-27 season.

The Canadiens also shared that Mittelstadt has signed a one-year AHL deal with the Laval Rocket for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.

Mittelstadt was selected by the Canadiens with the 197th overall pick of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. The 5-foot-11 defenseman spent each of the last four seasons with the University of Minnesota. In 152 games with the school over that span, he recorded 11 goals, 69 assists, 80 points, and a plus-46 rating. Overall, he had a solid collegiate career and is now making the jump to the AHL level with Laval. 

In 36 games this season with the University of Minnesota, Mittelstadt had two goals, 19 assists, and 21 points.
