Bad news for the Montreal Canadiens this morning as it was announced Juraj Slafkovsky would be sidelined for at least a week.

Everybody and their mother has now seen the footage of Montreal Canadiens' Juraj Slafkovsky wincing in pain after taking what looked like an innocuous shot last Friday at practice. It looked like nothing, and everyone could breathe again when the power forward was available for Saturday's game against the New York Islanders.

However, during the game, it became clear that something was not quite right with his shoulder when he consciously decided to use his other shoulder to lay the body on an opponent. It was as evident as could be.

The Canadiens have not confirmed that the problem is a shoulder injury; they've only mentioned that the Slovak is dealing with an upper-body ailment, but it seems like an easy conclusion to draw. In any case, whether or not the issue is his shoulder, the outlook remains the same. Slafkovsky will be out for a week before being reevaluated.

Six games in, the Canadiens' infirmary is already loaded with injuries: David Reinbacher, Patrik Laine, Rafael Harvey-Pinard, Kaiden Guhle, and now Slafkovsky are all out of commission. The Habs may not be the only ones dealing with the injury bug, but is sure feels like they've been hit more often than they should have been over the last couple of years.
