Canadiens star defenseman Lane Hutson has a chance at hitting this single-season milestone.

The Montreal Canadiens picked up a hard-fought 3-2 overtime win over the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night. Lane Hutson played a role in the win, as he recorded two assists in the contest. This included picking up a helper on Cole Caufield's game-winner.

With his strong performance, Hutson now has 11 goals, 58 assists, 69 points, and a plus-27 rating in 67 games this season for the Canadiens. He has already set new career highs with goals and points at this point in the season and should shortly with assists as well. This is because he needs only three more assists to pass his current career high of 60.

Yet, with Hutson already having 58 assists, the possibility of him hitting the 70-assist mark this season should not be ruled out. He needs only 12 more helpers to achieve it, and the Canadiens have 15 games left. If the star defenseman stays healthy and consistent, he absolutely could reach 70 assists before the season is over.

No matter what happens on that front, there is no question that Hutson has been having a fantastic season for the Canadiens. It will be interesting to see how he finishes it off.
