No surprise here.
The Montreal Canadiens are having a great start to the season, as they have a 9-3-2 record and have won each of their last five games.
Now, as the Canadiens continue to impress, one of their promising prospects has been rewarded for his fantastic play with the Laval Rocket.
Canadiens prospect Luke Mittelstadt has been named the AHL's Rookie of the Month for October due to his dominant play.
When looking at how excellently Mittelstadt played for Laval in October, it makes a lot of sense that he has been named the AHL's Rookie of the Month. He has been making a major impact for the Rocket early on.
In 11 games in October for Laval, Mittelstadt posted five goals, 11 assists, and an AHL-leading 16 points in 11 games. This included him recording four three-point games for Laval in October. These are very impressive numbers for a defenseman, and he has certainly created more hype surrounding him because of it.
Mittelstadt will now be aiming to keep this kind of play up for Laval as the season rolls on. If he does, it could lead to him getting a chance on the Canadiens' roster sooner rather than later.
