Montreal Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki turned 25 on August 10 and remains the youngest captain in franchise history. On Tuesday night against the New York Rangers, he had both goals in the defeat, his first multi-goal game of the year.
According to Sportsnet, with 293 career points, the former 30-goal scorer ranks seventh all-time in points by a Canadiens player by age 25.
The players ahead of him on the list are just a couple of Hall of Famers and multi-time Stanley Cup champions:
Considering that Suzuki has a career average of 48 points a year and reached a personal best of 77 in 2023-24, he's on pace to pass the great Bernie Geoffrion and claim sixth place for himself by the New Year.
However, if he has an even better season than last and manages to collect another 73 points in the remaining 75 games, Suzuki will overtake Stephane Richer and crack the top five.
He'd need 80 more to catch Mario Tremblay and 93 to rank third ahead of Steve Shutt.
No matter how many points the Canadiens captain scores between now and the end of April, he already keeps elite company at such a young age.
