Don't be surprised if this Canadiens forward has a bounce-back year.

Montreal Canadiens forward Phillip Danault will be a player to keep an eye on this season.

The 2025-26 regular-season was a bit of a tough one for Danault offensively, as he posted six goals and 17 points in 75 games split between the Los Angeles Kings and Canadiens. This was after he posted 43 points in 80 games with LA the season before, so his offense did drop.

However, Danault certainly heated back up during the playoffs, as he recorded two goals and 10 points in 19 games. Now, he will be looking to translate this kind of production over to next season for the Canadiens.

When looking at Danault's resume, there is clear reason to believe that he can have a bounce-back year for the Canadiens this campaign. He recorded at least 43 points in his four previous seasons before the 2025-26 campaign, so the possibility of him putting up more offense next season should not be ruled out.

If Danault can get his production back up while continuing to be highly effective with his two-way play, it would be significant for a Canadiens club that will be looking to make noise again this year. It will be interesting to see what kind of season Danault has in 2026-27 from here.
