Don't be shocked if Demidov is even better in 2026-27.
Ivan Demidov had a strong first full NHL season with the Montreal Canadiens in 2025-26.
In 82 games last season for Montreal, the 20-year-old posted 19 goals, 43 assists, and 62 points. With numbers like these, Demidov quickly emerged as a key part of the Canadiens' roster during his rookie campaign.
Yet, as well as Demidov played last season for the Canadiens, it would not be surprising in the slightest if he hits a new level for them in 2026-27. Now that he is more adjusted to the NHL level, the possibility of him being a point-per-game player this season should not be ruled out.
If Demidov hits a new level this season, it would be huge for a Canadiens club that is looking to be top contenders this campaign. There is no question that Demidov has the potential to take his game to a new level due to his fantastic upside, so it will be interesting to see what kind of season he can have in 2026-27 from here.
When looking at how well Demidov played last season, it is hard to not feel optimistic about him heading into the new season.
