OId school coaches decide to withhold who the starting goalie is until warmups. In a true tandem situation, that could keep a team guessing. According to Sammi Silber, Spencer Carbery won’t announce who they intend to put in the starters’ net.
The Capitals don’t have a tandem. Because Logan Thompson has been practicing, I am assuming he’s in net and I’m guessing that is who the Canadiens will think they’re using.
Charlie Lindgren is a decent goalie. They need more than that if Thompson is healthy and at this point in time, there’s no reason to think that he isn’t quite ready to go at this time.
Silber also pointed out that Thompson was off the ice first so that’s a done deal. There is no intrigue here and the Canadiens’ won’t be faked out by this.
In four lifetime playoff games, Thompson is 2-2 with a .921 save percentage. Lindgren is 0-4 in the playoffs with an .864 save percentage. This is a no-brainer so there’s no need to guess if you are a Canadiens’ fan.
All that’s left to do is wait for the puck to drop. There is no intrigue regarding the Capitals lineup and especially between the pipes.
