David Reinbacher is Traveling with Laval

David Reinbacher is on the road with Laval. He didn’t get in the lineup last evening in the 4-2 over Rochester. The future Canadien is getting back out there and that’s a good sign as Laval heads into the playoffs.

Reinbacher has only played eight games this year and just 19 in his career. At 20, just keep him in the AHL to finish out the season. This is more about his future development. That’s the way you do it and a solid postseason run could do the blueliner wonders.

It’s fun to see him out on the ice. He’s missed a lot of development time so I can’t put a timeline on when he should be in the Canadiens lineup. The AHL is still the best developmental league in the world and that’s the best place for him to be. I like the way the Canadiens have handled him thus far.

I can see Montreal giving him a game or two with the big club early next season and then send him down to have a great year. That’s what I would do. I wouldn’t pencil him in the lineup. He hasn’t played more than 66 games in his young career. That includes international play and that’s a big deal and that’s why you must take precautions here. When he’s ready they’ll know and then he can start to pay bigger dividends.
